A Historic Season: Yaroslava Mahuchikh Named Europe’s Best women's Athlete of 2024

Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh has been awarded the title of Europe’s Best women's Athlete of 2024 at the European Athletics Awards ceremony.

This is the first recognition of such a level for the 23-year-old, who had been a finalist for the award in the past two years.

In 2024, Mahuchikh achieved a remarkable year, capturing both the European Championship and Olympic gold.

She also broke the longstanding world high jump record, which had been held since 1987, with an incredible leap of 2.10 meters at the Diamond League meet in Paris.

The top three contenders for the European Female Athlete of the Year award also included Dutch sprinter Femke Bol (400 meters) and Britain’s Keely Hodgkinson (800 meters).
