The Fennecs have secured their place at the World Cup in Brazil, having reached the semi-finals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco.

Facing Ivory Coast on Saturday 8 August in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria showed real character to overturn the Eléphantes at the final whistle. Trailing 1–0 since the first half, the Algerian women found the resources to equalise and then snatch a 2–1 victory.

The Fennecs have thus reached the semi-finals of the tournament currently being held in Morocco. This victory secures their qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which will take place in Brazil from 24 June to 25 July.

Indeed, Algeria has secured one of the four direct places allocated to African teams reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. This is the first time in its history that Algeria has qualified for the Women’s World Cup.
