A grand showdown looms! Chelsea defender ready for club switch
The future of Malo Gusto at Stamford Bridge has been thrown into serious doubt.
Details: According to insider Simon Phillips, Chelsea are prepared to significantly lower their initial £75 million asking price for right-back Malo Gusto. The Blues' softened stance comes amid concrete interest from Liverpool in the French defender.
Tottenham, PSG, and Juventus are also closely tracking the 23-year-old's situation. Gusto himself has recently voiced open frustration with the fierce competition for a starting spot and a lack of consistent playing time.
Chelsea’s management is eager to avoid tension within the squad and have no desire to keep an unhappy player. As a result, the London club is looking to kick off a full-scale transfer auction among the interested parties as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
It's worth noting that in the 2025/26 season, the French defender made 34 Premier League appearances for Chelsea. In total, he's racked up 134 matches for the London club across all competitions, scoring 3 goals and delivering 17 assists. Gusto’s current contract runs until the summer of 2030, and respected portal Transfermarkt values him at €35 million.
