While Europe marvels at Real Madrid's expensive new signings, the quiet revolution at Valdebebas has produced something even more remarkable: a nine-figure windfall from players who came through the club's own academy.

Details: According to José Félix Díaz, Real Madrid generated €210 million from academy sales this summer alone, as reported by Madrid Xtra. La Fábrica's output essentially financed the club's entire summer overhaul, which cost around €225 to 240 million in transfer fees.

The breathtaking figure comes from more than a dozen operations involving La Fábrica graduates and players in whom Madrid retained financial rights. The biggest single source was the renegotiation with Como over Nico Paz, worth €60m, while Fulham paid around €50m combined for striker Gonzalo García and midfielder César Palacios. Liverpool added €20m through the sale of Víctor Muñoz, activated by a 50 percent sell-on clause inserted when the winger joined Osasuna, and deadline-day moves of Manuel Ángel to Fulham for €4m and Chema Andrés to Brighton for €11.5m capped the window, with Jacobo Ortega's switch to Strasbourg bringing in several million more. On the spending side, the income backed the arrivals of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal that could rise to €140m, Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for €55m, Carlos Espejo from Levante for €25m and Denzel Dumfries from Inter for €20m. The model has been shaped by general director José Ángel Sánchez: sell graduates while keeping sell-on clauses, often 50 percent, so the club keeps profiting long after players leave Valdebebas, while Castilla coach Álvaro Arbeloa's habit of giving youngsters first-team minutes has steadily inflated their market value.

It's worth noting that The Athletic's detailed analysis puts the final figure even higher, at around €215m, a club record that dwarfs the previous benchmark of €136.1m set in the summer of 2017. CIES data from October 2025 found that as many as 58 players trained at Madrid were playing in professional leagues across 49 competitions, underlining just how deep the production line runs.

Reminder: Disaster! Real Madrid left with just one centre-back.
