Turkish Galatasaray signed Brazilian striker Tete as a free agent in August 2023, but it seems that the club from the banks of the Bosphorus already regret this decision.

The fact is that the 24-year-old player belonged to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2019-2023. After the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine, he took advantage of the FIFA rule and suspended his contract with the Miners.

The Ukrainian club believe the player broke the rules as he failed to notify Shakhtar of his intentions to suspend his contract, and the Ukrainian champion soon unilaterally terminated the agreement and filed a FIFA lawsuit against Tete and Galatasaray.

It was thought that world football's highest body would deliver its verdict in the case on 27 June, but Turkish portal Mynet reports that the verdict has been postponed until 11 July. However, it is believed that FIFA will side with Shakhtar in the lawsuit. It is not yet known what the punishment for the player and the club will be.
