Formula 1 legend Fernando Alonso is staying with Aston Martin. The team's official website announced the extension of the contract with the legendary Spaniard.

The contract with the 42-year-old driver is not only for the upcoming season but also extends to 2026 when Aston Martin will begin working with Honda, transitioning their car to new power units.

The contract extension with Alonso comes amid rumors of his potential move to Red Bull or Mercedes.

Fernando Alonso is a two-time world champion, clinching the Formula 1 championship in 2005 and 2006 while driving for Renault. Throughout his illustrious career, the Spaniard has also raced for Minardi, Ferrari, McLaren, and Alpine.

In the current season, Alonso occupies eighth place in the overall standings. The legendary athlete has accumulated 24 points from four races.
