A former opponent of Anthony Joshua has been disqualified for two years
A former opponent of Anthony Joshua, Finnish boxer Robert Helenius, has been disqualified for two years.
According to TalkSport, the 40-year-old fighter tested positive for the banned substance clomiphene following his bout with AJ. Helenius proclaimed his innocence, but after failing to provide convincing evidence, he was handed a two-year ban.
"Following a request from UKAD, Mr. Helenius could not provide any evidence that the eggs and chicken he consumed prior to the fight were sourced from hens treated with clomiphene.
Therefore, Mr. Helenius was unable to identify the source of clomiphene in his sample and thus could not reduce the disqualification period, which stands at two years," the statement read.
Helenius's disqualification began on September 18, 2023, and will end in 2025.
Recall that Ryan Garcia is officially disqualified for a year for the use of the banned drug Ostarine before the fight against Devin Haynie.
Immediately after the decision on disqualification, Garcia announced the end of his boxing career.
