Ivorian defender Eric Bailly will continue his career at Villarreal, a move that has been officially announced.

The 29-year-old defender terminated his contract with Besiktas and will join the Yellow Submarine in January as a free agent. The duration of the agreement between the defender and his returning club has not been disclosed.

In the current season, Bailly has played eight matches for the Eagles across all competitions. He joined the Istanbul-based side at the beginning of the season.

Villarreal isn't a new environment for Bailly. The Ivorian previously played for the team in 2015-2016 before transferring to Manchester United for €38 million. During his time with the Yellow Submarine, Eric appeared in 47 matches across all competitions, scoring one goal.

Throughout his career, the center-back has also featured for Espanyol and the French side Olympique Marseille. For the Ivorian national team, Bailly has accumulated 49 appearances and scored two goals.

Villarreal currently sits in the 13th position in the La Liga table with 19 points. They are set to face Valencia in a derby match on January 2nd.
