The fight for environmental sustainability has reached football. English fifth-division club Forest Green Rovers announced on its official website that it has received approval to construct a 5,000-seat wooden stadium.
Quote: "This innovative stadium will become the new home for Forest Green Rovers. It will be almost entirely built from wood—a beautiful, natural, durable, and sustainable material.
We are one step closer to creating the most eco-friendly sports complex in the world, which will also serve as an important hub for the local community," said club chairman Dale Vince.

Reminder: The club actively supports environmental initiatives. Their current stadium features solar panels and renewable energy sources. On matchdays, they provide parking spaces, bike rentals, and charging stations for electric vehicles.
Notably, in 2017, FIFA recognized Forest Green Rovers as the most sustainable football club in the world.
