The title has been awarded to Al Merriekh following a decision by the appeals committee.
A dramatic turn of events in the Sudanese professional league. Whilst Al Hilal thought they had won the 2025–2026 Premier League, the club has been stripped of its title following a decision by the Appeals Committee.
Al Hilal have been penalised under the league regulations. Indeed, the rules of the game allow each team to field a maximum of five foreign players per match. However, during this title-deciding fixture, Al Hilal are alleged to have fielded eight foreign players.
Believing that this infringement had influenced the result of the match, Al Merriekh appealed to the Appeals Committee to contest the outcome. After reviewing the case, the relevant body ruled in the club’s favour and decided to award them a 2–0 victory, along with the three points.
