Real Madrid will have to work hard if they want to lure Mourinho away from Benfica.

Details: According to DiarioSport, the Lisbon-based Benfica management have no intention of parting ways with their star head coach José Mourinho so easily and have offered him a new contract.

It is reported that the new deal is much more lucrative for Mourinho financially than his current one. Benfica president Rui Costa personally reached out to Mourinho and proposed the new agreement, making it clear that the club highly values the work of the legendary Portuguese manager.

So far, Mourinho has not responded, and given that he is the top candidate for the Real Madrid managerial position, there is a chance that Benfica's offer will be turned down.

Mourinho took charge of Benfica in September 2025. So far this season, he has led the club in 44 matches, recording 26 wins, 10 draws, and 8 defeats. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027.

Reminder: "There will be a one-week window." Mourinho comments on possible return to Real
