German club Köln has officially announced the termination of their collaboration with the head coach Steffen Baumgart.

The decision stemmed from the team's unsatisfactory performance in the current season. The identity of the club's next coach will be revealed shortly.

Baumgart's final match leading the Billy Goats was against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga, a game the team lost 0:2.

The 51-year-old tactician had been at the helm of Köln since 2021 year. Under his guidance, the team made it to the group stage of the Conference League last season, finishing the championship in the 11th position. Previously, the German specialist coached Paderborn, elevating them to the elite division.

Köln is enduring a challenging season, currently occupying the penultimate 17th position in the German league table, having secured only two victories in 16 matches and suffering ten defeats. The Billy Goats are three points adrift from safety.

Following the Bundesliga hiatus Köln now under new leadership, will face Heidenheim on January 13th.
