A blow for Senegalese midfielder Assane Dioussé, who has suffered a serious injury at Auxerre
The 28-year-old has suffered a cruciate ligament rupture on the eve of the restart of the 2026–2027 Ligue 1 season.
After picking up the injury against Werder Bremen on Saturday 15 August 2026, during Auxerre’s final pre-season friendly, Assane Dioussé underwent medical tests. However, the results confirmed the fears surrounding the Senegalese international.
The diagnosis revealed that Assane Dioussé had suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his knee. The injury will force the Senegalese midfielder to be sidelined for an extended period.
The French club announced the news on Thursday 20 August.
“Having suffered a serious injury against Bremen, Assane will unfortunately be sidelined for several months. Assane, the whole TeamAJA is with you and is sending you all our best wishes.”
Following this injury, Assane Dioussé will now begin his recovery process with the aim of returning to action in the best possible condition.
