Coton FC will not take part in the competition despite qualifying after finishing in 2nd place in the league.

This announcement has taken the Benin football community by surprise. Although it secured qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup, Coton FC has officially announced that it will not be taking part in the competition.

In an official statement, the Beninese club’s management explained that this decision was taken after careful consideration. For Coton FC’s directors, this does not mean giving up on their continental ambitions, quite the contrary.

“This carefully considered decision forms part of a commitment to continue building a solid, sustainable and ambitious sporting project. The management has chosen to devote this period to a strategic overhaul, notably through a review of the club’s squad, optimisation of its sporting organisation and the establishment of the necessary foundations to achieve its future objectives.”
