Manchester United are preparing an expensive push for one of Spain's most dangerous attacking players.
Details: According to The Telegraph, Manchester United have identified Athletic Club winger Nico Williams as one of their priority targets and are prepared to make a move for the 24-year-old next summer. The reported release clause in the Spain international's contract stands at €95 million, and the Old Trafford club are ready to trigger it.
The Manchester club are planning significant investment in their attacking line and reportedly see Williams as a player capable of becoming an important part of the project. Activating the clause would remove the need to negotiate a transfer fee with Athletic Club, although any move would still require the winger's agreement.
Williams committed his long-term future to Athletic Club in July 2025, signing a contract running until June 30, 2035. Athletic officially announced at the time that his release clause had increased by more than 50 percent compared with the previous agreement, although the Basque club did not publicly disclose the exact figure.
It is worth noting that Williams has made six LaLiga appearances for Athletic Club in the 2026/27 season, scoring one goal. The 24-year-old remains under contract with the Bilbao side until the summer of 2035.
