€80m and it’s done? Real Madrid want to bring back their former player
Nico Paz is back at the center of Real Madrid's long-term planning.
Details: According to The Touchline, Real Madrid are closely monitoring 22-year-old Como midfielder Nico Paz as the Spanish giants look for additional creativity. The source claims that club president Florentino Pérez is personally a big admirer of the Argentine and that Madrid intend to assess next summer whether to bring their former academy player back.
The mechanism for a possible return is already in place. Real Madrid officially confirmed on June 29 that Paz would remain with Como for the 2026/27 season and that the club retained a unilateral buy-back option on his registration rights for the 2027/28 campaign.
The official announcement did not disclose the price of that option, but Spanish reports, including AS, have placed the buy-back figure at €80 million. Therefore, Madrid can decide in the summer of 2027 whether Paz's continued development in Italy justifies such a significant investment.
It is worth noting that Paz has started the 2026/27 campaign with Como by recording one goal and three assists in six club appearances across Serie A and the Champions League.
Reminder: Bullet dodged! Mbappe and Konate will be back much sooner than feared
