605 applications received for the position of Gabon national team coach
The battle to succeed Thierry Mouyouma appears to be fierce.
The Gabonese Football Federation has launched a call for applications to recruit a new coach. The position has been vacant since Thierry Mouyouma was dismissed following the Panthers' early elimination from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
And applications are flooding in, according to a statement released by the Gabonese Football Federation. For this single position, 605 candidates have submitted their applications. Most of the candidates are from Europe, according to the Gabonese Football Federation.
This preliminary stage will be followed by the examination of applications from 4 to 10 February 2026 to select a shortlist of three candidates, before the final stage leading to the selection of Gabon's new coach.
