2027 U20 AFCON Qualifiers: Nigeria beat Togo in the WAFU B tournament
The Flying Eagles dominated the U20 Sparrowhawks on Thursday 30 July in Yamoussoukro.
The WAFU B tournament, a qualifier for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations, is continuing in Ivory Coast. The competition, which kicked off a few days ago in Yamoussoukro, is now in its Matchday 2.
On Thursday, the Nigeria U20s faced Togo in Group B. However, the young Nigerians emerged victorious when the final whistle blew. The Flying Eagles dictated the pace of the game and made the difference in the second half.
Muiz Adeleke broke the deadlock for Nigeria in the 47th minute, making it 1–0, before scoring a second goal in the 60th minute to take the score to 2–0. Abdoulaye Agbe Joye sealed Nigeria’s victory with a goal in the 86th minute, making it 3–0.
Nigeria secured their second win of the tournament after beating Ghana 4–2 in their opening Group B match. The Flying Eagles now have 6 points.
