2027 Handball World Championship: Which Six German Cities Will Host the Tournament
In early 2027, Germany will host the Men’s Handball World Championship, and the six cities set to stage the event have now been confirmed.
Details: According to Handball Planet, the championship will be held in Munich, Stuttgart, Magdeburg, Kiel, Hanover, and Cologne. Andreas Michelmann, President of the German Handball Federation, emphasized their ambition to engage the entire nation with this tournament.

These cities combine many elements that make us unique: they’re centers of the Bundesliga, embody tradition, but – like Munich with the new SAP Garden – also represent modernity. With such outstanding infrastructure, we’re ready for another spectacular event in this decade of handball,” he stated.
Key stages of the 2027 Men’s Handball World Championship:
- Preliminary Round: January 13 or 14 - January 19, 2027, in Munich, Stuttgart, Kiel, and Magdeburg
- Main Round: January 20 - January 25, 2027, in Cologne and Hanover
- Final Round: January 26 - January 31, 2027, in Cologne
Reminder: The 2027 Men’s Handball World Championship will mark the 30th edition of the tournament organized by the International Handball Federation. Five countries had shown interest in hosting, but Germany was ultimately selected. This will be the sixth time Germany hosts the championship.
