2027 Africa Cup of Nations: CAF President offers reassurances on preparations in Tanzania

Patrice Motsepe is visiting Tanzania and Kenya to assess the progress of preparations for the tournament, which is due to take place next year.

As part of this tour, the president of the Confederation of African Football travelled to Tanzania on Thursday 17 September. Patrice Motsepe visited, amongst other venues, the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, one of the venues set to host the competition.

After inspecting the venue, the CAF president expressed his confidence in the level of preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will run from 19 June to 18 July 2027. Speaking to the media, Patrice Motsepe appeared confident.

“I am more confident and satisfied with the preparations. I am very proud of the good work that is continuing in Tanzania; we have nine months before the tournament, so we must step up the pace and work together, this is our Africa Cup of Nations.”

The CAF president will travel to Kenya on Friday 18 September for a similar visit. He will visit Uganda at a later date for an assessment tour.

Patrice Motsepe’s tour comes at a time when some media outlets have recently reported delays in the organisation of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
