2027 AFCON Qualifier: Maduka Okoye Arrives in Uyo Ahead of Madagascar Clash

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has arrived in Uyo to join the squad ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

The Udinese goalkeeper reported to camp on Thursday, completing the 24-man squad assembled by head coach Éric Chelle for the opening qualifier against Madagascar.

Okoye was given permission to delay his arrival due to personal and family commitments before travelling to Nigeria to join his teammates.

His arrival came just a day before the Super Eagles’ first AFCON qualifier, making him the final player to link up with the squad in Uyo.

The goalkeeper had been spotted in Milan, Italy, earlier in the week alongside American rapper Cardi B before making his way to Nigeria.

Nigeria will begin their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.
