Mohammed Kudus is expected to miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Ghana confirmed the midfielder is still recovering from a serious thigh injury.

The Tottenham Hotspur star picked up the injury earlier this year and later suffered another setback during rehabilitation, ruling him out of Ghana’s World Cup preparations.

His absence is a significant blow for the Black Stars, with Kudus widely considered one of the team’s key creative players heading into the tournament.

Carlos Queiroz officially confirmed the situation after naming his provisional squad on Monday as the Black Stars opened their pre-World Cup training camp in Cardiff ahead of the international friendly against Wales on June 2.

The former Ajax midfielder was left out of the squad due to the lingering quadriceps problem that cut short his season in England.
