The Falconets kick off their campaign this Monday, 7 September, against Spain in Sosnowiec.

Africa’s fourth representative at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which is taking place in Poland, kicks off its World Cup campaign this Monday. Nigeria will face Spain at Arena Sosnowiec.

The kick-off for this Group F fixture is scheduled for 5 pm GMT. Following the disappointments suffered by Tanzania and Ghana, and Benin’s valuable draw, the Falconets are expected to fly the flag for Africa.

To achieve this, the Nigeria U-20 women’s team cannot afford any slip-ups against Spain on Monday. But to make a successful start, the Nigerians must show character against the Spanish side.

It is worth noting that no African team has yet secured a victory since the tournament kicked off on 5 September. Tanzania suffered a heavy 4–1 defeat against Brazil on Saturday, whilst Ghana were beaten 3–0 by Ecuador on Sunday. Only Benin managed to secure a 2–2 draw against Mexico.
