2025 AFCON - Senegal: Fabregas doesn't want Assane Diao to join the national team

Fabregas has reportedly advised Assane Diao against joining Senegal. The 20-year-old winger is currently suffering from a hamstring injury, which could jeopardize his participation with the national team.

Como coach Cesc Fabregas recently expressed doubts about Assane Diao's participation with the Senegalese national team for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Fabregas is convinced that sending Diao to the national team under these circumstances would be illogical.

"He's been injured, and now he's supposed to join the national team? It doesn't make any sense," he said.

According to Fabregas, Assane Diao has been sidelined for seven months and has only played three matches this season. The coach is concerned that joining Senegal's training camp could worsen his physical condition.
