Liverpool's transfer chess match with PSG enters a holding pattern.

Details: According to L'Équipe, Liverpool have paused their pursuit of PSG winger Bradley Barcola after failing to make progress on the transfer fee. The Merseysiders plan to revisit talks in the final ten days of the transfer window, hoping that the looming deadline will persuade the Parisians to soften their stance.

The main stumbling block remains the price tag. According to talkSPORT, PSG are currently demanding around £145m for the 23-year-old Frenchman, although that figure could drop to £125m as the window nears its close. That means a potential £20m discount could be on the cards.

Liverpool's interest in Barcola hasn't faded. The player himself is open to a move to Anfield, so the fate of the deal will largely depend on whether PSG decide to revise their financial demands.

It's worth noting that Barcola's contract with PSG runs until the summer of 2028, but the Frenchman has already made it clear to the club that he has no intention of signing a new deal.

Reminder: £145m shatters mega transfer! Liverpool ready to walk away from PSG star.
