The Manchester giants are looking to determine the future of one of the squad’s longest-serving players well in advance.

Details: Manchester United’s management intend to begin official negotiations with 31-year-old left-back Luke Shaw over a contract extension in the near future. This was reported by renowned transfer insider Ekrem Konur.

The experienced full-back has been playing at Old Trafford for 12 years, while his current contract expires in the summer of 2027. Despite his injury history, United’s hierarchy continue to highly value the player’s quality, experience and authority, viewing him as a key member of the squad and a leader within the team.

The England international currently earns around €200,000 per week. The parties are expected to discuss the terms of a new agreement that would allow the veteran to continue his career in Manchester.

It is worth noting that Luke Shaw joined Manchester United from Southampton in the summer of 2014 for a record €37.5 million fee for a young defender. Since then, he has won the UEFA Europa League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup with the Red Devils, as well as scoring in the Euro 2020 final for the national team.
