Medical miracle? Atlético Madrid brutally trolls Real Madrid
Atlético Madrid have found a particularly sharp way to mock their bitter city rivals.
Details: Atlético Madrid have publicly trolled Real Madrid over the surprisingly rapid recovery of Federico Valverde from a serious ankle injury. On October 9, the club's official X account published a sarcastic message questioning how the Uruguayan midfielder managed to return to the squad so quickly. The statement read: "We would like to congratulate Real Madrid for continuing to make history by proving that 100% of the world's medical community was wrong!"
The controversy dates back to the Madrid derby on September 20, when Valverde suffered an ankle injury following a challenge from Atlético midfielder Lee Kang-in. Two days later, Real Madrid officially announced that their captain had sustained a grade-three sprain of his left ankle, an injury generally associated with a lengthy recovery period.
However, less than three weeks later, Valverde was back in group training and included in José Mourinho's squad for the October 10 La Liga clash against Villarreal. The unexpected development prompted Atlético to question the original medical diagnosis through their sarcastic social media post.
Mourinho has nevertheless stressed that Valverde's participation against Villarreal remains uncertain, with a final decision still to be made. The midfielder's inclusion in the squad does not necessarily mean he is ready to start.
It is worth noting that Atlético Madrid won the September 20 derby 2-1. The club's sarcastic message also included the Spanish hashtags for miraculous recovery, medical report and grade-three sprain, adding another pointed reference to the controversy.
