Villarreal president is determined to keep his star from moving to the Premier League

Villarreal midfielder Alex Baena is attracting interest from Premier League clubs, and it would seem that with a €60 million clause, there would be plenty of money to be made on that interest. But, Yellow Submarine boss Fernando Roig has no intention of letting the player go.

The Villarreal president stated that the team is counting on Baena:

"Baena is Villarreal's player for years, we are counting on him heavily. I think he will continue to grow and become the best in the coming seasons. Baena is a good player."

Roig also assessed the interest from Aston Villa:

"We don't talk about hypotheticals and the future, we don't care about that now. The important thing is that Baena is a player who has grown a lot at Villarreal and I want him to continue to grow here.

Although I always say that there are three sides and that if all three parties agree, the issue can always be closed. But right now we are not working on the issue," Roig said in a conversation with As.
