It was originally founded in 1932 and, being in that format, won the Portuguese Taça de Portugal in 1990, was playing in the top division of the country for 16 years and tried its hand at the European arena. Still, the project was actually disbanded in 2011, and only because of the efforts of the fans there remained the football academy and the sections for other sports. They created an adult team that first played in amateur tournaments in Lisbon in 2018 and got the opportunity to play in the second division of the country in 2021. Having finished the first season only in the 14th place, “the Estrela” confidently took the 3rd position in the spring. That result was followed by the victory in the battle against Maritimo in the first leg of the play-offs. Still, what a stress can be made by Claudio Winck’s goal in the 87th minute of the game – it turned a confident 2-0 success into a minimal 2-1 score.
