On May 13, at the "Pier Cesare Tombolato" stadium, the 34th round of Italy's Serie B will feature a clash between Cittadella and Salernitana. For this match, I suggest betting on goals, cards, or the outright winner.
Cittadella
Two seasons ago, the team celebrated a significant milestone—its 50th anniversary. Over this period, Cittadella has managed to establish itself in Serie B. Moreover, there were several playoff attempts to climb higher, but all ended in disappointment. Last year, after collecting just 46 points, they had to settle for a modest fourteenth place.
Unfortunately, they didn’t learn much from such a lackluster finish. In the new season, the relegation battle intensified, and the club found itself among the strugglers. Since mid-February, their only win came against Juve Stabia, and even draws have become rare this spring. However, in the previous round against Bari, they managed to secure a victory, keeping their survival hopes alive.
Salernitana
The club has a rather turbulent and not particularly successful history, but its peak came quite recently. Having only reached Serie A for the second time in its history, this time Salernitana managed to stay up for three seasons. But it all ended with relegation last spring, after a truly dismal campaign.
To this day, the team hasn’t even secured its place in Serie B for next season. Not long ago, things looked even worse, but in April they managed to defeat Südtirol and Cosenza, and in May—Mantova. Last round, they lost 0-1 to Sampdoria, a direct rival, which left them second from bottom with minimal hopes for success.
Match facts
- Cittadella went eight matches without a win prior to the last round
- On average, Cittadella scores 0.84 goals and concedes 1.41 goals per match
- Salernitana have won three of their last five games
H2H
In their last four head-to-head meetings, Cittadella managed just one draw. Earlier this season, Salernitana claimed a 2-1 home victory.
Cittadella vs Salernitana prediction
The bookmakers are leaning towards the visitors. But both clubs desperately need a win, so whichever side takes the lead will likely focus on protecting their advantage. Expect "under 2.5 goals" (odds – 1.79).
