(VIDEO) What was he thinking? Premier League referee caught on video insulting Liverpool and Klopp
A major scandal has erupted today in the English Premier League after a video surfaced that may have ended the career of one of its referees.
Details: A social media user published an old video featuring Premier League referee David Coote, where he calls Liverpool "trash" and refers to Jürgen Klopp with an offensive term. In the video, the 42-year-old official appears to be intoxicated.
In the footage, Coote also says that this video should never get out, but his plan clearly backfired.
The Premier League has officially announced that Coote is suspended from officiating duties until the investigation is concluded.
Interestingly, Coote was the head referee for Liverpool's recent 2-0 win against Aston Villa. Liverpool fans have long held a grudge against this referee for what they perceive as consistent errors in favor of the "Reds'" opponents.
Coote has been officiating in the Premier League since the 2017/18 season.
Reminder: After 11 rounds, Liverpool sits in first place in the Premier League standings with 28 points, holding a five-point lead over Manchester City.
