Orlando Pirates suffer from long-term injuries: What are they! Selaelo Rasebotja

Orlando Pirates have been dealt a significant setback as midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for a serious knee injury.

The 24-year-old confirmed the news on his Instagram account, revealing he had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The procedure has already taken place, ruling him out for the remainder of the Buccaneers' current campaign.

Medical experts estimate ACL recovery timelines between six to nine months, suggesting Rasebotja may not return to action until early 2026. Since joining Pirates from SuperSport United at the start of the season, the midfielder has seen limited playing time, making only 11 appearances across all competitions—mostly as a substitute.

In his social media post, Rasebotja expressed his disappointment while remaining optimistic: "This isn’t how I envisioned ending the season, but God’s plan is greater. Though heartbroken by the ACL injury, I’m thankful the surgery went well. Now, my focus shifts to recovery and rehabilitation."

He extended gratitude to supporters, adding, "Your encouraging messages mean everything to me. Thank you all for the love and support."

The injury leaves Pirates without the midfielder’s services as they navigate the remainder of their fixtures.
