Usain Bolt's record in the 100 meters could be broken soon. The World Athletics Association is considering the introduction of "super tracks," which could give current athletes a significant advantage. This was reported by Sport Bible.

Details: Technological changes in the tracks could improve grip and aerodynamic characteristics, leading to reduced running times, allowing athletes like Noah Lyles to get significantly closer to Bolt's record or even break it.

Lyles, who improved his personal best to 9.784 seconds at the 2024 Olympics, is already close to Bolt's historic result (9.58). If he competes on such "super tracks," he could theoretically improve his time by a few tenths of a second, allowing him to set a new world record. This means Lyles is quite capable of taking Bolt's place in history if such rule changes come into effect.

See also: Suspension continues. World Athletics extends disqualification of Russians and Belarusians

Reminder: This move is controversial, as some believe that such changes could compromise fairness and undermine the historical significance of Bolt's record. It should be noted that these changes have not yet come into effect and are still under discussion.

In her youth, she trained as a sprinter, but a difficult personal situation led her to switch her athletic focus.

Now 53, Wiafe has achieved an extraordinary feat in a relatively short time. She became the first Ghanaian-born runner to complete all six major marathons: London, Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York, and Tokyo.

Quote:

"Running is my salvation. During my morning run, I plan my day.

Marathons and everything else—it’s a community I’ve built since joining this small but elite group. Only one percent of the world’s population has run a marathon.

It was right after my divorce in 2011 that I began running. I joined Black Girls Run in Austin and ran my first half marathon at 43, then my first full marathon at 45. So this marks my 10th year of running," Wiafe shared in an interview with CNN.

Reminder: Recently, the nominees for European Female Athlete of the Year were announced.

Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis forever wrote himself into the history of world athletics by breaking Sergey Bubka's record, which had been held for more than a quarter of a century. The Dailysports team has put together a little dossier for you about Duplantis' athletic and beyond life.
Armand Duplantis: family
Duplantis has known what athletics is all about since childhood. His father, American Greg Duplantis, was also a pole vaulter, and his mother, Swedish Helena Duplantis (maiden name Hedlund), was an all-around athlete. Armand has two older brothers, Andreas and Antonie, and a younger sister, Johanna.
Armand Duplantis: records
Arman has broken several world records at once. On 8 February 2020 in Torun, Poland, he broke the indoor pole vault record (6.17m), which was set by Renaud Lavillenie in 2014, and on 17 September 2020 he broke Sergey Bubka's outdoor pole vault record (6.15m), which had been held since 1994.

After that, Duplantis competes only against himself. At the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, he once again surpassed his own achievement and set an Olympic and world record at 6.25 metres.
Armand Duplantis: medals
Where there are records, there are medals. The Swede has plenty of them. He is a two-time Olympic champion, world and European outdoor and indoor champion, and winner of the Diamond League. In total - 16 gold, one silver and one bronze medal in various competitions.
Armand Duplantis: sponsors
Duplantis is mainly supported by domestic brands, such as Swedish electric car manufacturer Polestar and Aqua Dental, a chain of local dental clinics. But the list of the track and field athlete's sponsors also includes world-famous brands like Puma, Omega, Red Bull.

Read also: Jannik Sinner profile: prize money, racquet, coach, girlfriend, ranking, titles, sponsors, idols

Armand Duplantis: prize money
Updated records bring the Swede not only glory and medals, but also prize money. Thus, for each broken record Duplantis receives one hundred thousand dollars, but only once per competition. That is, having broken the record twice in one competition, he will receive not two hundred, but only one hundred thousand dollars. In total, the Swede's income is estimated at a rather modest two million dollars.
Armand Duplantis: girlfriend
Duplantis has been courting Swedish blogger Desir Inglander since 2020. At first the latter did not show much interest in Arman, but soon he managed to win her heart, and they became a couple.
Why does Armand Duplantis compete for Sweden?
Duplantis is half American, so he could safely play for the U.S. national team. It was this country Arman intended to represent until 16 years old, but the coach of the Swedish national team Jonas Anshelm managed to dissuade the track and field athlete from this idea and since 2015 he began to play for the Scandinavian team.

This is equivalent to 385 marathons, meaning he ran a marathon every day on average to reach the finish line.

On Sunday, the 26-year-old athlete had 40 kilometers left to run to reach the northernmost point of the continent in Tunisia. Cook was able to achieve his ultimate goal with the support of hundreds of supporters who traveled to Africa to cheer him on.

After completing his final run, he simply exclaimed on Sky News, "I'm tired. I'm a bit tired!" Cook claims to be the first person to run across the entirety of Africa, although some argue that this was already achieved in 2008.

Incredible. pic.twitter.com/VtxSehbsKN

— talkSPORT (@talkSPORT) April 7, 2024

Cook's journey began in South Africa on April 22 last year. During this time, he raised almost £700,000 for two charitable organizations: The Running Charity, which assists young people with mental health issues, and Sandblast, which introduces people to Sahara culture.

Throughout his journey, he faced numerous challenges, including being robbed in Angola and going missing in the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, thanks to the efforts of his supporters and his own perseverance, he was able to continue his journey. This feat stands as one of the most remarkable achievements in sports.

Renowned Czech athlete Robert Změlík is selling his gold medal from the 1992 Olympic Games.

The Czech legend announced that he would sell the gold medal won in the decathlon discipline at the Barcelona Olympics. The reason for the former athlete's decision is his overwhelming debts. The debts of the 54-year-old Olympic champion have reached 1.7 billion Czech crowns (or 67 million euros).

During his sports career, Změlík ventured into business. His company, Starlife, sold food supplements based on traditional Chinese medicine. Two years ago, it went bankrupt. Změlík deducts 800 euros monthly from his salary to repay debts.

In addition to the gold from Barcelona 1992, Změlík will also sell gold from the 1997 World Indoor Championships in heptathlon and the 1992 European Indoor Championships.

The Czech athlete claims that he cannot have such large debts.

"Creating obligations of 1.7 billion Czech crowns for a company with an annual turnover of 250 to 400 million is impossible," Změlík defends himself.

According to him, some obligations were recalculated several times by the trustee in bankruptcy.

"It creates the impression that I am an incompetent trader who created such losses. It will take some time before I can document everything, and it will be a sensation of how the bankruptcy mafia works here," claims the Olympic champion.
