Another setback: Hamilton sets unwanted Ferrari record
Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton once again failed to make it past the first qualifying segment—this time at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, marking his third consecutive Q1 exit.
This result marks a historic unwanted record for the 40-year-old Briton: Hamilton is now the first Ferrari driver ever to be knocked out in Q1 three times in a row. The seven-time world champion will start Sunday’s race from only 16th on the grid.
It’s worth noting that Hamilton also crashed during practice, damaging his car. As a reminder, the final Formula 1 race of the season in Abu Dhabi takes place this Sunday, December 7, with lights out at 14:00 Central European Time.
Pole position went to Max Verstappen, who is still chasing a fifth consecutive world title. Earlier, we covered the key scenarios ahead of the season finale.
