The national team was quite successful in previous cycles at the youth level. George Puscas and the company created a sensation by reaching the final in 2019. The team, taking into account its entire history at the U21 level, appeared at the Euro twice. The debutant was able to reach the final in 2006, and it limited itself to only the group stage five years later. Those results were followed by 5 unsuccessful qualifications, and only the current squad, collected by Ruslan Rotan, was able to “shoot the target”. However, even 7 victories and 23 points were not enough to lead the group – France had won 1 match more. Moreover, “the Yellow and Blues” also lost the 1st match of the play-offs – there happened a defeat made by the Slovaks. Still, they were able to overcome the rival in the return match, scoring three unanswered goals. Being already at the tournament, it all started with a duel against Croatia.
