PSG centre-back Marquinhos is playing in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match against Barcelona.

According to OptaJean, this is the Brazilian centre-back's 436th match for the French team. Thus, the 38-year-old footballer is the record holder for this indicator. The previous record belonged to Jean-Marc Pilorget, who reached the mark of 291 matches.

It will be recalled that on 19 July 2013, Marquinhos joined Paris Saint-Germain for €31.4 million, signing a five-year contract with the club. According to BBC Sport, at that time it was the largest sum paid for a player under the age of 20. The French news channel BFM TV labelled the move as one of the most expensive transfers in history among defenders, with only Rio Ferdinand, Tiago Silva, Lilian Thuram and Dani Alves ahead of him.

Together with Paris, Marquinhos won all possible titles in France and reached the 2020 Champions League final with PSG.
