However, football enthusiasts might be astonished by the prize money Liverpool will receive for winning the tournament.

According to Sport Bibble, Jürgen Klopp's team earned a mere £100,000 for triumphing in the League Cup. Chelsea, as the finalist, will receive half of that - £50,000.

Clubs earn only £5,000 for progressing through the first round of the League Cup. The second round isn't much more lucrative, with clubs earning £7,000 for a victory. Starting from the quarter-finals, clubs earn £25,000 for progressing to the next round.

For comparison, the winner of the FA Cup receives £2 million in prize money.

Today's trophy marks the 68th in Liverpool's history (compared to Manchester United's 67), making them the most decorated English club.
