At the meeting of the FIBA Central Board held in Switzerland on April 26, it was decided to extend the current status of the national basketball federations of Russia and Belarus. This means that they will remain suspended from participating in international competitions until the next meeting of the Central Board, scheduled for December 2024.

It is worth reminding that due to the military invasion of Russian troops into Ukrainian territory in February 2022, the national teams of Russia and Belarus were banned in many sports and have been suspended ever since due to the ongoing war.

These countries have already missed the qualification for EuroBasket 2025 and will not be represented at the 2024 Olympic Games.
